Navitas Semiconductor Collaborates with GreatWall Power to Revolutionize AI Data Center Infrastructure with GaN Innovation

Navitas Semiconductor, a pioneer in gallium nitride (GaN) and silicon carbide (SiC) technologies, has revealed that its advanced GaNSense™ power integrated circuits (ICs) will drive GreatWall Power’s groundbreaking 2.5 kW DC-DC converter, engineered for ultra-high power density in AI data center applications.

 

Developed within a compact 1/4-brick form factor, GreatWall’s converter achieves an unprecedented power density of 92.36 W/cm³—surpassing conventional silicon-based solutions by up to 8x. This innovation addresses the escalating demands for energy efficiency and space optimization in next-generation computing infrastructures.

 

The converter operates with a peak efficiency of 97.9% under half-load conditions and supports a wide input voltage range of 320–420 VDC, aligning with stringent Open Compute Project (OCP) efficiency standards. Its versatility extends to telecommunications, industrial systems, and AI-driven data centers requiring robust power management.

 

At the heart of this advancement lies Navitas’ NV6169 GaNSense™ IC, a 650 V, 45 mΩ GaN device housed in an industry-standard 8 x 8 mm PQFN package. This third-generation solution delivers 50% higher power density compared to previous iterations while minimizing inductance for enhanced thermal performance.

 

Key technological breakthroughs include:

 

  • Lossless Current Sensing: Enables precise monitoring without energy waste.

  • Ultra-Fast Protection: 30 ns “detect-to-protect” response—6x quicker than discrete alternatives.

  • Enhanced Durability: 800 V transient surge rating and 2 kV ESD protection ensure reliability in demanding environments.
